Arun wins gold in Australia

The month of December 2013 brought laurels for Sugoli. Arun, a speech-and-hearing-impaired lad from the town, won the gold medal in singles, silver in doubles and bronze in mixed doubles badminton tournament in the International Asia-Pacific Special Olympics regional games held in Sydney, Australia, from 1 to 7 December

SUGOLI (Bihar): The month of December 2013 brought laurels for Sugoli. Arun, a speech-and-hearing-impaired lad from the town, won the gold medal in singles, silver in doubles and bronze in mixed doubles badminton tournament in the International Asia-Pacific Special Olympics regional games held in Sydney, Australia, from 1 to 7 December. Later in the month, he also emerged at the top in a badminton tournament held in Ajmer.

In 2010, he had won a gold medal in an athletics meet in Panchkula, Haryana. Arun, who has won many sports contests, has been feted by the Bihar government on many occasions. A resident of Chapwa of Sugoli block, Arun is the son of Jaglal Prasad Gupta. He had his primary education in Mission school, Betia. Once he had cleared class ten examination, he was introduced to sports contests by Umang Bal Vikas. Currently, Arun is pursuing an intermediate course in Commerce.
