NARNAUL, LUCKNOW, NEW DELHI: The reprehensible remarks of the so-called Baba Swami Ramdev regarding Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visits to Dalit homes has sent a wave of anger through the Dalits all over the nation. On 27 April, various Dalit and OBC social organizations jointly burnt an effigy of the Yoga teacher at the Mahavir Chowk at Narnaul in Haryana under the auspices of Harayana State SC, ST Employees Welfare Union and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, demanding Ramdev’s arrest.

On this occasion, workers of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samiti, Anusuchit Jati, Janjati Utthan Samiti, All Indian Corporation Mahal Anusuchit Jati Vikas Manch, Ravidas Sabha and Dalit Sena were present. In Lucknow, lawyer Lalji Prasad Nirmal led a demonstration by Ambedkar Sabha against
Ramdev. In Delhi, Dalit author Anita Bharati lodged a FIR against Ramdev.
