NARNAUL (Haryana): At a function organized by Awaz Group of Literature and Art on 13 July at a local hotel, a collection of poems Main Shapathpatra Nahi Loonga and a book of criticism Dalit Kavita: Parampara Aur Pariprekshya, written by young Dalit poet and critic Sushil Shilu, were released. At the same function, Ye Samay Aur But, a poetry collection of another young poet Sunil ‘Pagal’, was also released.

Addressing the function, the poet Pawan Karan, who was the chief guest, said that the writings of both the poets would raise the consciousness of readers. Referring to the negative approach of some litterateurs towards Dalit literature, he said that the need for Dalit literature arose because the people of the community wanted to give voice to their agony. The function was chaired by Comrade Dalip Singh. The keynote speaker was Comrade Indrajeet Singh, vice-president of Kisan Sabha. Sunita Verma, deputy district chief, and Radheshyam Gotwal, former district corporator, were special guests.
