BUXAR (Bihar): On 10 October, Samrat Ashok Club, Buxar, organized the eighth Dhamma Vijay Diwas (of Emperor Ashok) at Kathar Khurd in Krishnabrahma. The celebrations were inaugurated by Rajya Sabha member R.C.P. Singh with the unfurling of the national flag. Dr Suman Saurabh, the chief guest, hoisted the Panchsheel flag. R.C.P. Singh threw light on the importance of national symbols for strengthening national unity and integrity. Addressing the function, he said that the police action at the Delhi office of FORWARD Press and the deployment of policemen at the gates of the Jawaharlal Nehru University during the observance of Mahishasur Martyrdom Day by the All India Backward Students’ Forum were direct communal assaults on the freedom of expression. He said, “In an independent nation, every person has the liberty not to accept any religion or thought.” Dr Sacchidanand Maurya, national spokesperson of Samrat Ashok Club, hoisted the flag of the club. Buddhist monks recited the Panchsheel. On this occasion, Manoj Kumar, Purnendu Maurya and Avandh Bihari Singh, among others, also expressed their views.
