Two years of Modi sarkar: Broken promises and a sectarian agenda
It now seems that Modi’s silence was deliberate and in keeping with the “division of labour” by the RSS. Those making these hateful statements are not fringe elements as some have described them; they are part of the core agenda
Providing a voice to the dispossessed majority

Reservation review: Who set the ball rolling?
Will Lalu confront Nitish the way he confronted Mohan Bhagwat on a review of the reservation policy?

FORWARD Press won’t only be on the web. We will publish eight books every quarter – four in Hindi, four in English. All the important articles put on the web will be compiled in the books
Policies matter more than a caste census
Prem Kumar Mani in conversation: ‘The government should have figures on OBCs too. This will also reveal the numbers of the dominant classes’
'Caste census will bring out the truth'
Lalu Prasad in conversation: ‘The situation did change … People now send their children to schools even if it means forgoing their essential needs … When we gave voice to the poor, the opposition branded it as jungle raj’
Mandal wins in Bihar
The credibility enjoyed by Lalu among the forces of social justice and secularism and the positive impact of the development brought about by Nitish combined to produce this victory. The enthusiasm of women of all castes and classes also played a role
Bihar gets further polarized on caste lines
What turned out to be the game changer were RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statements regarding need for a fresh look into the issue of reservation. These statements created uncertainty in the minds of the OBCs and Dalits, the beneficiaries of reservation
Bihar election through Bathe’s eyes
The Dalits and the Backwards here have suffered greatly at the hands of the upper castes but they are still divided in terms of their voting preferences
