The film, starring Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, is based on ‘Confessions of a Thug’, an 1839 novel by Philip Meadows Taylor. It tells the story of the courage and the valiant past of the ten crore members of denotified and nomadic tribes of India. They were branded as criminal tribes by the British. They are struggling for their identity and rights even in independent India. Janardan Gond explains
