Where young women flee at the sight of upper-caste men

When I visited parts of western Uttar Pradesh and eastern Haryana a decade ago to film a documentary, I discovered that things haven't changed since Omprakash Valmiki's disturbing portrayal of Muzaffarnagar's society in his autobiography 'Joothan'. The Dalits here are still subject to casteism in its most inhuman and vicious forms
