Dalit student Pravin feted by the President

Pravin Kumar, a Dalit student who lives in Narayanpur colony on Gudri main road, was awarded Indira Gandhi NSS Swayamsevak Award by President Pranab Mukharjee at a function at New Delhi on 19 November

CHAPRA (Bihar): Pravin Kumar, a Dalit student who lives in Narayanpur colony on Gudri main road, was awarded Indira Gandhi NSS Swayamsevak Award by President Pranab Mukharjee at a function at New Delhi on 19 November. Praveen received a medal, certificate and a cheque for Rs 15,000. Pravin has been active in the field of social service since his childhood.

As a leading member of the NSS unit of Jaiprakash University, he enthusiastically participated in various programmes including promoting afforestation, AIDS awareness, polio eradication, blood donation, water conservation, literacy and hygiene. In 2012, he participated in a national seminar ‘Caste Census and Development’. Presently, he is studying for a postgraduate degree in economics in Rajendra College.
