Court says Dalit lawyer who shared Forward Press report is innocent

In Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, Dalit lawyer Prahad Meghwal had shared a news piece about Brahmins in Kerala practising Untouchability even during the floods. A complaint was filed against him for ‘hurting religious sentiments’ and the police were under pressure to arrest him, but the SDM court found him innocent. Prema Negi reports:

A crowd of around 400-500 people, led by the BJP office-bearer, a Brahmin, reached the police station on 6 September – the day the upper castes had called for a Bharat bhandh. They demanded immediate arrest of Meghwal.
